Hodgson has welcomed news that the Reds' board have agreed a sale of the club to New England Sports Ventures (NESV), owners of the Boston Red Sox, in a deal reportedly worth £300million.
Current co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are to launch a legal challenge on the accepted bid, meaning prospective owner John W Henry may have to wait to become the Merseysiders' new chief in command.
And Hodgson, who has been reassured of his future at Anfield by NESV, is pleased to see the club moving in the right direction.
"It's very positive and of course I'm delighted," the Reds boss told the club's official website.
"It's been going on a long time and I know how hard the board have worked to set things up.
"I know it's not easy for them because the owners have other ideas in terms of the sale of the club and what is achievable.
"But I was delighted to hear the news and have it confirmed that it looks like it is going to go through."
