Jones has established himself as one of English football's brightest prospects since making his Premier League debut for Blackburn back in March.
Initially deployed at centre-half, the 18-year-old has largely been playing in a holding midfield role for Rovers this season.
He performed solidly in both positions during Monday's 0-0 draw with Sunderland and is looking to build on the promise he has shown in the early stages of his career.
"It's a big season," Jones told Sky Sports.
"Last season was all about making myself known in the Premiership, but this season I've got to push on and show people I am capable of playing in the Premiership week in, week out.
"I'm just happy to be playing week in and week out at the moment."
Blackburn had to play the second half against Sunderland with 10 men after Christopher Samba's dismissal in first-half stoppage-time.
Jones was happy to emerge from the game with a point and was always expecting a difficult evening against Sunderland.
He added: "It was tough. Obviously going down to 10 men so early in the game put us on the back foot, but the boys have done well.
"Robbo pulled off some fantastic saves and we dug deep and got a valuable point.
"Sunderland are a good team. They come here and press you and put you under a lot of pressure, and they did that.
"We expected that, but we're very pleased with a point."
