Tony Pulis admits his Stoke side never panicked after losing their opening three Premier League games of the season.
The Potters earned a 1-0 win over Blackburn on Saturday, with Jon Walters scoring early in the second half for their third win in their last four league games.
Stoke opened with consecutive defeats against Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea, but Pulis insists the players took it in their stride and are now reaping the benefits.
"The start of the season was always going to be difficult," he told Sky Sports. "There was the local derby at Wolverhampton, then playing Chelsea and Tottenham.
"We accepted that it was going to be a tough start but the lads got through it and we know there will be periods like this."
Stoke were the better side of the two throughout at the Britannia Stadium, but Rovers were not without their threat as Pulis was keen to point out.
"I'm delighted," he said of the win. "The one thing you get with Blackburn is a performance every week and that's a credit to their players and the manager.
"They get lots of balls into the box and they're a big team but I thought we created some good opportunities and on another day we could have capitalised on more of them.
"But I think we just about deserved to win."
Goal hero Walters, a £2.75million summer signing from Ipswich, finished delightfully on 47 minutes after collecting from Matthew Etherington's through ball.
It was the 27-year-old forward's first Premier League goal since his move and Pulis is pleased his player is off the mark after being encouraged by his work rate.
Pulis added: "Jon has been brilliant since we brought him to the club and I'm very pleased to see him get a little bit of a reward. He works very hard for this team."
