The France-born Morocco international joined the Gunners on a free transfer in the summer from Bordeaux.
The 26-year-old found the tempo of his first game hard to register, stating he nearly had a seizure due to his effort levels.
Chamakh never thought he would be able to last the 90 minutes in England's top-flight, something he has now achieved.
"I almost had a seizure when I first played for Arsenal," explained Chamakh. "I told myself that I would never be able to stand up to playing an entire match.
"At Arsenal we go on the attack all the time, and I was completely unaware when I first joined them.
"At times I wanted our keeper to slow down play a little by keeping hold of the ball. But no, he'd launch it upfield straight away."
