Harry upbeat despite draw

Harry Redknapp refused to be too downbeat after his Tottenham side were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland.

Spurs suffered a 4-2 defeat at Bolton on Saturday and they were unable to bounce back on their return to White Hart Lane despite dominating possession and having a host of chances.

Fit-again Dutch star Rafael van der Vaart gave them a thoroughly-deserved lead in the 64th minute, maintaining his record of scoring in each of his games at home.

But Tottenham threw away victory as a mix-up between defensive duo William Gallas and Younes Kaboul gifted Asamoah Gyan an equaliser within just three minutes.

Redknapp's men therefore passed up the chance to climb to fifth but the Spurs boss was pleased with their performance.

"I thought we played ever so well," he told Sky Sports HD.

"We got 1-0 up and dominated the game. We had loads of chances, got the goal through Van der Vaart, and I really couldn't see any other result than the three points for us.

"But we made a mess-up. They only had one or two shots all night and didn't create too much, and suddenly they find themselves at 1-1.

"That's how it goes sometimes but I wasn't at all disappointed with the performance."

Tottenham failed to follow up last week's famous UEFA Champions League victory over holders Inter Milan as they lost at Bolton.

And although Tuesday night's draw means they have taken just two points from the last 12 in the Premier League, Redknapp believes these are good times at White Hart Lane.

"They're seeing some of the best football they've ever seen here - I don't care what anybody says," he added.

"Last week we beat Inter Milan here and I thought we played some fantastic football, at times, tonight.

"People pay to come here every week and I don't think they can be too disappointed with what they're seeing at Tottenham."
