The pressure on manager Hodgson was eased slightly at the Reebok Stadium as Maxi Rodriguez notched a last-gasp winner to seal a 1-0 win and lift the Reds out of the relegation zone.
While heartened to see his side ascend to mid-table, Hodgson insists there is no quick-fix and has emphasised the need for a massive overhaul at Anfield.
"This is going to be a longer job, it is a rebuilding job," said Hodgson.
"But it is nice that there is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel and to be able to continue that rebuilding work in a less frenetic atmosphere.
He added: "It was a very gritty performance and I hope this can be a springboard for us.
"We have had three very good results now, including the Napoli one.
"We have defended so much better in the three games and I know that we will score goals even if we aren't doing so now."
Hodgson will meet with new owner John W Henry this week to discuss the future of the club and says the American is fully committed to improving the club.
"I have talked with the owner almost on a daily basis because he is very, very interested and committed," he said.
"He is anxious to learn more about the club, what can be done, what needs to be done and how the club can move forward, which is music to all our ears.
"He will be holding a lot of meetings this week and he wants to spend some time with me on how I see the situation and things panning out in the future."
