McCarthy - We were the best

Mick McCarthy believed Wolves were the better team after losing narrowly to Arsenal at Molineux.
The Gunners got off to a dream start when Marouane Chamakh nodded home from Alex Song's cross in the first minute and Wolves keeper Marcus Hahnemann then had to save from Andrey Arshavin to keep them in the game.
But the hosts improved and forced Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski into several good stops before Chamakh sealed the points with a last-gasp second.
McCarthy, whose side lost narrowly to Manchester United at the weekend, told Sky Sports: "We played very well and I think we've been the best side on the night but ended the day with nothing again, so it doesn't really count for much unfortunately.
"It's not what I planned for (the early goal) and the goal we conceded was dreadful but the response was fantastic and I would say that Fabianski is the man of the match tonight having been hopeless for the goal (in the loss to Newcastle) on Sunday and cost them the game, he's come here and he's repaid Arsene (Wenger)'s faith in him hasn't he - he's been fabulous tonight."
McCarthy added he has not got a team that would cave in after conceding such an early goal.
"I've got an honest, hard-working bunch who can play football as you've seen tonight, we need the results and that will make all the good football and all the good play worthwhile."
Cesc Fabregas was booked late on for a touch-line lunge on Stephen Ward but McCarthy had no problem with the Arsenal skipper.
"I've had a look at it and I've no doubt he was going to try and block the ball up the line, it's just one of those mistimed tackles and he's caught Ward, he's got a nasty cut but he's apologised and I ain't got no problem with it at all.
"But what I do have a problem is people who are whinging and bitching about my players when they make tackles, that's what I can't stand.
"People doing it are ruining the game that I love which is competitive and that's what the Barclays Premiership is.
"I think we should accept that, I think we should be man enough - Wardy's accepted the handshake - there's no animosity between himself and Cesc Fabregas and let's get on with it, I've no problem with it either, it's a tackle."
