The on-loan Derby forward took his Premier League tally to four goals with a majestic strike after three minutes, in front of the soon-to-be married Prince William.
Varney's opener paved the way for the Tangerines' second home win of the season and the former Crewe and Charlton performer hailed his goal as up there with some of his top efforts.
He told Sky Sports: "As soon as I got my chest on it I knew I was going to hit it and, for it to fly into that top corner, I'm absolutely delighted.
"It's right up there (as one of my top goals) and it's a great result for us."
Varney joined manager Ian Holloway in praising Wolves for their spirited performance at Bloomfield Road but the 28-year-old also admits the Blackpool camp are glad to put one over potential relegation rivals.
He added: "They're a great side and their work ethic meant we had to knuckle down. We're buzzing in there and it puts the gap a bit bigger between us."
