Houllier defends dropping duo

Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier has defended his decision to leave Richard Dunne and Stephen Ireland out of his side that beat West Brom.
Dunne was relegated to the bench and stripped of the captaincy amid reports of a training ground bust-up with Villa assistant manager Gary McAllister.
Ireland was left out of the squad altogether with the player reportedly set to hold talks with Houllier over his future later this week.
Houllier has moved to justify his decision to leave out the pair, saying he is only focused on doing what is best for the team.
"My job is to take decisions, no? I'm not here to please the players, I'm here to please the fans and the club," said Houllier.
"Listen, this is a team thing. I mean, we are not playing tennis."
