Kevin Doyle claims Wolves' Carling Cup win over Notts County has left them confident of derby success against Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Republic of Ireland striker was on target on Tuesday as Wolves hit back from a goal down to defeat League One County 4-2 after extra time in their third round tie. And, as the win came on the back of two Premier League defeats away at Fulham and Tottenham, Doyle claims it was important not to lose three successive games ahead of Villa's visit to Molineux this weekend.
"It wouldn't have been nice to lose three on the bounce," he said.
"It would have made the next few days a bit more stressful.
"Now we can go into the Villa game looking forward to it. We were anyway but it's a good derby game.
"We played well against them last year."
