More Premier League clubs likely to fall into foreign hands with lack of English investment

Of the 130 expressions of interest generated by the Liverpool auction, 27 of which were considered serious offers, just one was thought to come from a British bidder.
It is understood that an agent claiming to represent a Brit made the approach, but the offer never amounted to anything serious.
The paucity of British bidders was in contrast to the number of parties using the sale process to attract publicity.
For example the first the club board knew of interest from Sahara was when the multi-billion dollar Indian conglomerate issued a press release saying it was no longer interested.
By contrast Kenny Huang, by far the noisiest of bidders, was treated as a serious player.
It is understood that he was initially thought to be backed by some form of Chinese state-owned agency, though not as widely reported the Chinese Investment Corporation.
As soon as details of Huang's bid became public, however, insiders believe his backing evaporated and his withdrawal from the process followed.
