The Seasiders recorded just their second home victory of the season as first-half goals from Luke Varney and Marlon Harewood proved the difference, although Wanderers grabbed a late consolation from Kevin Doyle.
Holloway paid tribute to Saturday's opponents, who saw their losing streak extended to four games despite playing well at Bloomfield Road.
And the Tangerines boss admitted Mick McCarthy's Wolves were the better team in the opening period.
Holloway told Sky Sports: "Funnily enough I thought for the first time this season we haven't played as well as we can. We didn't dominate the ball like we normally did.
"Mick's team did really well - they were the best team in the first half and unfortunately for them we scored an absolutely out of this world goal and were fortunate to go two ahead from a set-piece."
Holloway touched upon the pending Premier League investigation into the team he put out in the 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa a fortnight ago.
And the Seasiders boss insists he will call it quits at Bloomfield Road if the league decides to punish him.
He added: "I believe I'm not allowed to manage my club of 25 players within the rules fairly. Who are they to judge how good my team are when they let me submit those names at the start of the season.
"I've got my principles and I will ask my chairman if he will accept my resignation. I feel that strongly about it.
"Everyone knows I don't want to go anywhere, I'm really enjoying myself and I think it will be a crying shame for myself if he accepted that."
